Who we are and what we do

Rose City Classics is a 1955-1956-1957 Chevrolet Club established in 1981 for the purpose of encouraging restoration and/or preservation of the '55-'57 Chevrolet automobile, truck and Corvette.

The club meets on the third Thursday of the month except in the months of January, September and December. Meetings are held at Northside Restaurant & Lounge located at 1730 N Lombard St. (between Interstate & Denver) on the south side of the street. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m., but most members come early to have dinner and enjoy the companionship of fellow members.

We host two major open-event cruise-ins each year.

Our primary event is designated as our "Charity Cruise." Each year members pick a different charity to benefit from this event. The Charity Cruise is held in Woodland WA in June.

Our club has a rich history of community activism and since 1999 we have donated more than $41,000 to local charitable organizations. These include the St. Mary's Home for Boys, Susan G. Komen Portland Race for the Cure, Washington County Families for Independent Living, Oregon Diabetes Association, Oregon Burn Center at Legacy Emanuel Hospital; and Neighbors Helping Neighbors. In addition to helping these organizations we have also donated more than $6,000 to assist club members and other organizations in our community.

Our second event is a cruise-in at The Wooden Chicken in Portland OR and is held in July.

Other activities include a yearly banquet; a Fun Run to kick off the cruising season; a club picnic; Monte Carlo bowling and a Christmas party. We recently started, and we hope to continue, an informal monthly cruise to a local eatery. This gives us a chance to get the cars out and just drive!

Yearly membership is $25 which includes a monthly newsletter to keep you up-to-date on current club and local events.

A June 15, 2007, burnout incident in Selmer, Tenn., resulted in four fatalities among spectators. Thank you for cooperating with us on our "no burnout policy." We will continue to ban burnouts at all events sponsored by Rose City Classics.
